Adding Control-D characters to PC ﬁles

The

ADDCTRLD.BAT

and

CTRLD.PS

ﬁles are included for users who want to write

their own PostScript ﬁles. See Installing the utility ﬁ

les to locate the printer’s

utility ﬁles.

NOTE

If your computer is connected to the printer through the parallel port, or the optional

serial port, you need to have Control-D characters in your utility ﬁles or in the ﬁles you

create. However, if your computer is connected to a network such as NetWare or

TCP/IP, you should not add Control-D characters to a utility ﬁle.

The non-text Control-D character is required at the end of PostScript ﬁles sent to the

printer’s parallel port or optional serial port; it signals “end-of-job.” A Control-D

should precede and follow most PostScript data ﬁles.

ADDCTRLD.BAT

and

CTRLD.PS

help you add two Control-D characters to your ﬁles.
